I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I have been serving the elder community of Alaska since I began my working career in 1978. Most of that time was as an automotive technician and business owner. I was highly sought after due to my attention to detail and caring to elderly customers and their families. I successfully owned and operated a service station and repair facility for many years with an emphasis on serving the elder community through many of the local churches.

I am president of Senior Care of Alaska, Inc. We are a compassionate company with the primary purpose of assisting Alaskan seniors with a multitude of non-medical in-home activities of daily living, helping them to remain safely independent in their own homes for as long as possible.

I have a deep passion and concern for our Alaskan seniors and am dedicated to serve and educate them in every possible way that will bring full benefit to them, thus improving their quality of life. Our seniors not only have rights, but they have choices.

BETTY LINNEMANN - TREASURER

Betty Linnemann - Treasurer

Current Board member Betty Linnemann, 66, came to Anchorage in 1975 with her husband John, during the pipeline boom. She has two sons and one daughter.

Betty Linnemann brought her Seattle-based business, Westwood Accounting, with her to Anchorage and also went to work for the Employers Teamsters Corp. as an accountant. In 1985, she secured employment as a business manager for Access Alaska, a nonprofit organization devoted to assisting the disabled of Alaska. She worked directly with Duane French, now director of Vocational Rehabilitation for the State of Alaska. During her tenure, she also volunteered her time during holiday events and the Midnight Sun Wheelchair Race.

Retired since 1997, she now volunteers her time with the Anchorage Kidney Center, Zonta of Anchorage, OPAG and teddy Bears and Friends, Inc., a cottage industry that collects, repairs and donates teddy bears to various organizations.

Betty Linnemann serves as Treasurer on the OPAG Board and assists with various accounting functions. She analyzes financial statements for board interpretation and is also on the executive director selection committee.

Brad Bradley

Board member Brad Bradley is married to Louise (Lu) Bradley and they have two sons, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Brad is a graduate of Edwards Military Institute with an associate degree in Psychology and Sociology and Wake Forest University, with a bachelor's degree in general Science with maximum requirements in premedical and political science.

Brad served 28 years in the US Army, was commissioned a Regular Army Lieutenant Colonel and fought in World War II, Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He spent two terms in the Alaska State Senate, one term on the Municipality of Anchorage Assembly and sponsored much veterans and senior citizen legislation that became law.

Brad arrived in Alaska from the Pentagon in 1964, assigned first to Fort Greely, then Fort Wainwright, to Vietnam, then finally to Elmendorf AFB and the Alaskan Command Headquarters. He has been a resident of Anchorage and a member of the Older Persons Action Group and AARP since 1970. He is also a life member of the Anchorage Senior Center, a member of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and Commonwealth North.

Brad was a member of the OPAG board and also a past president. His wife, Lu, worked closely with seniors as past president of Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center. Rose Palmquist and Brad organized the OPAG Endowment Foundation with Rose as chairperson and Brad as vice chairman. Later, Bard became chairman.

Brad and his wife have completed their second home on Anderson Lake (former Kings Lake) in Mat-Su Valley and have invited many senior citizen friends, especially those without a close family member in the area, from Anchorage, Chugiak Senior Center, Wasilla, Palmer and their church to their Lakeview Lodge and resort for a picnic during the summer month.

Since both of their parents have passed away, Bard and his wife have devoted a lot of their time to helping seniors and especially the less fortunate. They feel they have a responsibility to do this and much more.

Brad organized the first chapters of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Veterans (AMVETS) and the Retired Officers Association (TROA) in 1970. In 1987 he organized the first chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He has been president or commander of all these organizations and an officer in many other military and civic organizations. Many of the members of these organizations are also senior citizens.

Brad believes his organizational skills, leadership and legislative experience could be beneficial to the OPAG board.
