VISUAL
ART:
You may use collage (without trademark or brand name images), Oil, water
color, acrylic, inks, markers, crayons, sculptures, or mobiles, Minimum Size: 8 1/2” x 11.
Maximum size: 18” x 24”. Use
unlined white paper.l Write TOP on the Back at the top of your
entry, or DRAW AN ARROW pointing to
the TOP. Entries may be submitted in either horizontal
or vertical format.
PHOTOGRAPHY: May be
submitted as B & W or color prints, minimum 3” x 5”,
Maximum
8” x 12”; or as a digital file, in .jpg
or .tif format. Digital images must be submitted
on a CD, using the highest resolution possible.
Final print size from
Digital
entries will be determined by OPAG, based on the file size of the image
chosen
for display.
LITERARY
ARTS: Essays and poems may not exceed 1,500
words. Submit a double-Spaced, typewritten manuscript; or
submit in Word software on a CD.
Contestants
may enter both categories.
DEADLINE: All entries
must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008.

Cermony: Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the
Anchorage Senior
Center,

Action Group.
Rules and
Releases: Participation is open to all Alaskan residents. All entries must be original in concept and
created by the contestants. An adult may
help a student with an entry, as long as the student does most of the work and
the concept for the entry is the student’s.
All entries become the property of OPAG and may be published in Senior
Voice, other OPAG publications and/or the OPAG website at www.opagak.org. Three (3)
entries maximum per category. Entries
will not be returned. As potential
winners of this contest, all applicants give OPAG permission to select and
reproduce their entries. If an entry is
selected for an OPAG poster, for the Senior Voice newspaper, or in another OPAF
publication, the applicant will not
receive monetary compensation, but credit only for the entry.
Prizes: 1st
Place winners in all categories (Visual Arts, Photography, Literary Arts) and
age groups win $100 in cash, a ribbon, and a certificate. 2nd and 3rd Place
winners receive certificates and ribbons.
Additional may be awarded at the judge’s discretion. Winners are to be published in Senior
Voice. 1st Place entries will
be part of a traveling exhibit.
The Anchorage and other school districts in Alaska do
not endorse these materials or the viewpoints expressed therein.
