Seniors building a safe and secure tomorrow for everyone
Older Persons Action Group (OPAG) is a nonprofit membership
organization
dedicated to maximizing the well-being, independence and
self-sufficiency of Alaskans 50 and older.
Our goal is to improve services and develop program that foster
self-determination of older Alaskan citizens.
OPAG provides statewide
advocacy of older persons' issues
through coordination and collaboration with other
like-minded organizations.

SERVICES OFFERED TO OPAG MEMBERS
· COMPUTER & LANGUAGE COURSES
We offer computer classes for beginners and intermediate users in
our Computer Lab.
OPAG members can use our
computes free of charge when classes are not in session.
We continually try to add to our language classes, including
"English as a
second language" courses for older Alaskans who speak Spanish and Tagalog.
We also offer Spanish language courses for English speakers.
· ‘SENIOR VOICE’ NEWSPAPER
This award-winning monthly newspaper is read by 40,000 seniors and
community leaders in every section of the state.
Senior Voice is a source for news,
features and photographs about of programs, services
and other items of interest to Alaskans 50 and
older.
· DIRECTORY FOR OLDER ALASKANS
OPAG publishes this
comprehensive guide to senior services throughout Alaska every other year.
The directory lists companies, agencies, programs and services
available to older Alaskans, on a city-by-city basis.
You may order copies of the 2005 Directory for $5 apiece.

The Older Persons
Action Group has been authorized by the
Alaska Commission on Secondary Education to offer training to
become a
Certified Nurses Assistant or a Personal

We host a JOB SUPPORT GROUP , which usually meets Fridays from Noon to one,
featuring a guest speaker each time from various
companies, agencies, or institutions
who informs us of the opportunities available to
older persons.
